Acceptable Use Policy
This is a service built on photographs of the inside of homes. Two rules follow from that and sit above everything else: do not upload someone else's home, and do not upload photographs with people in them.
The rest of this page covers the ordinary ground — unlawful use, harmful content, fraud, intellectual property and platform abuse — and what happens when a rule is broken.
Photographs of homes and of people
Do not upload a photograph of someone else's home without their permission. Do not upload a photograph containing identifiable people.
This service exists to look closely at the inside of a house. That makes it a poor place for photographs of houses you have no business photographing, and a poor place for pictures of people.
Specifically, you may not upload:
- The interior of a property you do not occupy and have not been given permission to photograph.
- A photograph obtained from a listing, a social media account, a letting advert or anywhere else, without the owner's permission.
- Any photograph in which a person's face is recognisable, or in which a person could be identified from what is visible.
- A photograph taken through a window, over a fence, or otherwise of a space you are not in.
If people appear in the room, take the photograph again without them. The tool only needs the wall.
Unlawful use
Do not use Wallplan to do anything unlawful, to plan anything unlawful, or to help anyone else do either. That includes:
- Breaking any law that applies to you where you are.
- Infringing anyone's rights, including privacy, publicity, copyright, trade mark or design rights.
- Evading sanctions or export controls.
- Anything intended to damage property that is not yours.
Child safety
There is no tolerance here and no process for appealing it. Any attempt to upload material that sexualises a minor, or any use of the service in connection with the exploitation of a child, results in immediate account closure and a report to the relevant authorities.
The service is not for anyone under 18. Accounts we find belonging to minors are closed and their data deleted.
Content you upload
Beyond the rules on homes and people, do not upload:
- Material that incites or celebrates violence, or that attacks people on the basis of race, ethnicity, national origin, religion, disability, sex, gender identity, sexual orientation or age.
- Sexual material of any kind. This is a tool for planning a wall.
- Material designed to harass, threaten, defame or intimidate a person.
- Artwork or photographs you do not have the rights to, where the point of uploading them is to reproduce them rather than to hang them.
- Malware, or files designed to attack the service or the people using it.
Regulated and high-risk subjects
Wallplan is a layout tool. It is not qualified for, and may not be used as, an input to:
- Structural, engineering or building-control decisions.
- Fixing points for anything whose failure could injure someone — overhead installations, heavy pieces above a bed or a cot, television mounts, handrails or grab rails.
- Commercial or public installations where a duty of care to third parties applies.
- Any purpose where a law, a regulator or an insurer requires a qualified assessment.
Presenting Wallplan output as a professional assessment, to a client, a landlord, an insurer or an authority, is a breach of this policy.
Fraud and misrepresentation
- Do not use stolen payment details, or details you are not authorised to use.
- Do not create accounts to obtain repeated free allowances.
- Do not resell access, share credentials, or present the service as your own.
- Do not claim an affiliation with, or endorsement by, Wallplan that does not exist.
Trade marks and copyright
The Wallplan name and design are ours. Do not use them in a way that suggests we made, endorsed or supplied something we did not.
You must have the rights to the artwork visible in what you upload. In practice, photographing a print you own in order to plan where it hangs is fine. Uploading somebody's artwork in order to reproduce it is not what this is for.
If you believe something on Wallplan infringes your rights, write to us with enough detail to identify the material and your claim, and we will look at it and act where the claim is made out.
Platform abuse
- Do not attempt to gain access to accounts, systems or data that are not yours.
- Do not probe, scan or test the security of the service without written permission.
- Do not scrape, or use automated tools against the service beyond ordinary use.
- Do not circumvent credit metering, rate limits or the watermark on the free plan.
- Do not reverse-engineer the layout engine or the drawing system, or use the service to build a competing one.
- Do not overload the service, deliberately or through a broken integration.
What happens if you breach this
Depending on what happened and how serious it is, we may remove the content, restrict a feature, suspend the account, or close it.
Where the breach is capable of being put right and no one has been harmed, we will normally tell you what is wrong and give you a chance to fix it. Where it involves child safety, an attack on the service, or an unlawful act, we act immediately and without notice.
Accounts closed for a breach of this policy are not refunded. Where we are required to report something to an authority, we do.
If you think we have got a decision wrong, write to support@styleyourspacesedinburgh.com and a person will look at it again.
